Born in Ueda, Nagano. Saw his first 3-pronged transistor when he was in the 3rd year of primary school, fell in love and began making vacuum tube radios. Made walkie-talkies in secondary school. While attending the national technical college manufactured and sold his own vacuum tube black-and-white television sets together with dormmates and sold them through a local electronics shop. In university ran TV repair business with student friends with a phone number to the dormitory and advertisement printed at the university. Upon graduation, worked at the research center of a major computer manufacturer and then became a freelance technical consultant in Southeast Asia. Founded RF SYSTEM lab. in 1993 and registered it in 1998 as RF Co., Ltd. Succeeded in developing a battery-free capsule endoscope, the first of its kind anywhere, in 2001. In 2003, announced plans to establish a graduate school to provide training to promote entrepreneurs to work in advanced medical technology.
